Smiley’s Ramadan Book Club — 2026 Reflection Newsletter

This Ramadan, Smiley’s Book Club completed a beautiful month‑long journey through the book Builders of a Nation by Dr. Haifaa Younis, a powerful collection of stories about the Mothers of the Believers and other remarkable women of early Islam.To support sisters who didn’t have the book, we also followed along with Dr. Haifaa Younis’ Ramadan 2023 YouTube series, which aligned perfectly with our weekly themes.

Together, we learned about eight extraordinary women whose lives continue to inspire our faith, character, and sisterhood.

🌿 Week 1 — Foundations of Faith

Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA)

A pillar of loyalty, courage, and unwavering support.She taught us that faith is strongest when paired with sincerity and sacrifice.

Sawda bint Zam’a (RA)

A woman of generosity and calm strength.She reminded us that kindness is a form of worship.

🌿 Week 2 — Knowledge & Discipline

Aisha bint Abi Bakr (RA)

A scholar, teacher, and leader.She showed us the power of knowledge and the importance of seeking truth.

Hafsa bint Umar (RA)

The guardian of the Qur’an.Her discipline and devotion taught us the value of protecting what Allah has entrusted to us.

🌿 Week 3 — Compassion & Wisdom

Zaynab bint Khuzaymah (RA)

Known as Mother of the Poor.She embodied compassion, charity, and a heart open to everyone.

Umm Salamah (RA)

A woman of intelligence, patience, and deep wisdom.Her story taught us resilience and trust in Allah’s plan.

🌿 Week 4 — Dignity & Community

Zaynab bint Jahsh (RA)

A woman of dignity, generosity, and devotion.She taught us that true honor comes from humility and service.

Juwayriyyah bint al‑Harith (RA)

Her marriage brought peace to her entire tribe.She showed us how one woman’s sincerity can transform a community.

🌙 A Month of Sisterhood

Throughout Ramadan, our Book Club became a space of reflection, softness, and connection.We shared stories, lessons, duas, and moments that strengthened our hearts and our bond as Muslim women.

This month reminded us that learning about these women is learning about ourselves — our potential, our purpose, and our place in this Ummah.
